In honor of the year of the centenarian of the TItanic tragedy, Barcelona has the honor of presenting a new exhibition in the Museu Maritima at the end of the famous Ramblas. If you are in Barcelona between now until the 30th of September, you have the privilege to see this once in lifetime exhibition commemorating the Titanic in all it’s historical glory.

Sonar is one of the biggest events in Barcelona in the music scene by combining (mostly) electronica/house/techno/hypno and all the rest of the various branches of this type of music with stunning visual effects in some of the hottest cities of the world (Barcelona being one of them). The 19th edition of Sonar with take place during the dates June 14, 15, and 16 and some of the biggest names in the business will be there. For 3 days only you can vibe to the sounds and bask in the Barcelona sun in an event that makes Primavera sound look like a cumba ya in comparison of the music congress that is Sonar. It is important to know some basic Sonar things about the festival before coming to Barcelona…

La Bohéme is a four act opera written by Giacomo Puccini in the late 1800’s. Today it is one of the top four operas most performed in the world. I had the pleasure of being able to see the rendition made in the beautiful Liceu Opera House here in Barcelona with good company although there was a threat of the show to be canceled due to the lack of public funding. Only a week before seeing the show, the Liceu was on the brink of canceling all of the shows to come this season. Luckily, they went ahead with the shows and there was no strike in the end. Let me say that it was quite an event to remember. We had amazing seats in the historic Opera house, right on the right side of the theatre on the ground floor. The Liceu Opera House in Barcelona is a very special and beautiful theatre. If you have ever been to Barcelona, or if you are planning to visit in the future, it is worth a stop to marvel at the façade of this historical building and if you are lucky, marvel and the beauty of the theatre from the inside.

This will be the first ever (and hopefully not the last) BARCELONA BEER FESTIVAL this weekend in Barcelona. If you are here in the Condal city and are thirsty, this might be just the thing to do this weekend to quench your thirst. Here, lovers of artisan beer will get together to share their latest brews with you… the people…so that you can go forth and broaden your beer palette.
